i just bought a new computer and i thought i could make my own backup DVD, but i don't remember how to do it.

i found the system backup, but it won't allow me to write it to a DVD.

will it still work correctly if i do a full system backup, save it to the desktop, then copy that to a DVD?

You can easily backup your system to DVD using True Image by Acronis. You just need to choose a "Create Bootable Media" option in the startup menu. However I also recommend you to create a hidden partition and backup your system there too, both this procedures can be successfully accomplished using True Image. Also using the latest version of True Image you can backup not only your system or personal data but also the Outlook Files and applications' settings. You can purchase the latest version of True Image here: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/

For backup I use Acronis True Image 10.0. Not so long ago I searched for good backup software and in choosing between Acronis True Image and Norton Ghost I decided to buy Acronis True Image 10.0. I’ve found out that True Image works faster both while backing up and while restoring data. Also True Image has many useful features and costs cheaper than Ghost. Now I use a full version of True Image and I’m quite pleased with it. You can learn more about True Image here: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/

Creation of a restoration point, will help you out.

Incase you need a backup go to Drive properties > Tools and make a backup and burn it out on a DVD.

You should be able to do backups to DVDs with "Nero" DVD burning software.
