All I did was to put a video DVD in the desktop and it has been reading the disk for a few hours and the drive is now not showing up in Windows Explorer nor am I able to eject the disc. Any help would be appreciated.

In order to get the disc out you can use the manul eject. There should be a small hole in the DVD tray. Unfold a paper clip and carefully push it into the hole. You should fee a little resistence and teh tray will pop open. I would then reboot the PC and try a known good DVD in the drive. If it works then you know you have a bad disc. If the same issue occurs you have a DVD drive issue. Watch for error messages. You might also check the System event log for more info. Go to Start > Run and type eventvwr then press enter. Im presuming a Windows operating system here. In teh system event log look for red error messages that are related to teh DVD drive. You can google teh message or go to http://www.eventid.net and enter the error code to get more infor about the issue.

you need to configure your Window Media player or go to http://www.windvd.com and download the software. When you insert the DVD in a drive System will bring up a box what would you like to do..Playing through Real player,Quick time or Window media player or take no action.Which player you selected and is that player on your system.Drive you can watch it on your computer.Click the My computer tab and all the drive are listed there.Including the DVD with name.Click that drive. If not so click control panel-click performance and maintenance viewer-click system-click hardware-click-device manager and see the driver is listed their or no?if not so click and upgrade the driver.Window will look for the software installed on your computer. You can manually eject the disc by using a paper pin-Look on your drive near the light cathode-there is a small hole-insert a paper pin end in it and press it.The disc will eject.Or the DVD might be copy right protected. So to view it you have to download the software from respective company. Also download the macro media flash player from http://www.adobe.com website it';s free

Eject the DVD using a un-bent paperclip and insert it into the wee teenie hole in the front of the drive, probe around til you feel the release lever, press it til the tray ejects. Right tic on "My Computer" and select "Manage" >disk management>CD/DVD drives>the DVD drive in question>right tic on it and un-install it>reboot the computer. That will reinstall the drivers for you. They may have become corrupt.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
