You can get a decent antivirus program like McAfee and Norton's from CompUSA or Best Buy, but might be found in Radio Shack, Electronic's Boutique, or the computer section of a major department store. Once you buy the program register it and if you can afford it, subscribe when it asks to renew. Usually the program comes with a free 6 or 12 month subscription that will allow you to keep the program as upto date as possible to protect against new viruses, but there's a fee to continue recieiving updates after the initial period.

You might want to look into getting a more comprehensive security program and not just and antivirus program. I have an old version of Norton's Internet Security that came with firewall, ad blocking, and antivirus programs. There's a newer version that's supposed to also protect against spyware. Using a comprehensive security program will not only protect you from viruses, but also from hacking attempts as these programs can monitor and notify you when your programs attempt to communicate over the internet. On my computer I have the setting set so that none of my programs access the net unless I say so. These comprehensive programs are a bit more expensive, but they provide more protection. If you can afford it get the comprehensive security progam instead of just an antivirus program. Remember to register and subscribe when the renewal notice comes up.
