to increase the speed of your pc there is one option ...increase your RAM
if you dont want to do that then you have to check out for the following things
1-disk space try to free more disk space
2- get rid of spyware the really slow down your pc (if they alredy there )
3-try to close unwanted proceses .(for this you have to get this software tuneup software it wil help you identify these processes
4-fragment your hard disk
5-clear temporary files

You need to increase your RAM And to make it worth your while increase it by 50% or more; you'll see a difference right away. Lots of computers coming out don't have enough to run the programs they have; take those notebooks that burn DVDs and cd's that are sold with only 512 mb of Random Access Memory in them. That's just not enough.They'll be slow; they'll stall and crash without an increase
Also as suggested above clean up your computer.Delete what you don't use or need and clean up your hard drive.

Depends on your computer specifications. You could have the fastest computer in the world and have a virus that slowed it down to nothing. Try not to run alot of programs at once and the speed should go up. CPU and RAM are the main components that affect speed.

Get rid of applications and programs that are of no use to you and you probably dont have to do that just go to the internet tools button go to internet options and clear out your website cache clear out the files been and your cookies that should speed it up

Clean the browser caches, remove unnecessary software, see if you have some downloads on your hard drive that you don't need anymore. Also, de-fragment your hard drive using disk de-fragmenter.

delete
get you task manager up - close any programs that are not needed

start
control panel
performance & maintenance
free space up on your hard disc
....and then rearrange items on your hard drive (pick the clean up any errors option)
