Adobe say that the Nvida Quadro FX1400 is approved for After Effects V7. Is the Nvida Quadro FX1500 compatible as it appears to be the same card but with 256MB of ram as apposed to 128MB on the FX1400.

I want to get a new pc, what I want to do requires a new pc, here is the current pc that I have, please tell me what its worth:

Computer:
Pentium 4 processor at 1.4GHZ or 1400mhz
640 MB SD ram
40 GB hard drive, 40 gb hard drive (slave)
Pioneer 16X Dual Layer DVD Burner
LG 16X DVD Player
Nvidia 64MB video card, Onboard sound, 2 USB ports, Floppy Drive, Ethernet card

Other hardware
Sony Trinitron 15' monitor
Dell Keyboard, Logitech 3 button mouse

I bought it from MDG in November 2001, so its almost 5 years old, its slow because I have so much stuff on it, but it runs ok if your just surfing the net. Its a good pc, but times have changed and I need a new pc for internet/application use.

As for how much Im looking for, well its between $400-$650. Does this sound reasonable? The dvd drives I bought brand new, dvd burner was bought this year so is only 2 months old, dvd player was bought in 2002 and still works, as for the monitor, I got it in 2003 and works great!

I am trying to fix a random computer that was handed to me... first off it said 'Disk Boot Failure, Insert sys disk'.. so i booted from a floppy and tried to run fdisk but to no avail. instead i get 'No fixed disks present'. Do I need to replace the hard drive? My goal to fix the orginal problem (disk boot failure) was to delete all partitions and just create one primary partition that uses max space on the hard disk... is that a reasonable solution?

What happens is this. My computer either:
- freezes after a few minutes of being switched on (only sometimes using it and not leaving it idle for more than 5 minutes stops it from freezing)
- randomly restarts
- switches off, and then it does not switch on, unless I remove the power plug from the mains for at least 5 or 6 seconds.

Within last few months I had professionals trying to sort it out - the fan replaced for a bigger one, a new motherboard, a new HD and new DVD drives (software using those drives for longer period of time has also the tendency to freeze). I have my Norton Antivirus up to date.
What can be the cause of the problem and how can I sort it out without just pouring more money into it? Please help.

I have 4 total DIMM slots in my current PC, I have two(2) 512MB DDR2 sticks in slots one and two and two(2) 1024MB sticks in slots 3 and 4. They are both different PC speeds. The 512's are PC2 3200 and the 1024's are PC2 5100. What slots will the 512's work best in and same goes for the 1024's. I have the 2 512's in slots 1 and 2 and then 1024's in slots 3 and 4 for a total of 3MB of DDR2 memory. Is there a better way to config my ram sticks so my pc runs at its best ? tks GTG

I have an older Compact computer with Windows XP SP2 on it. Lately for some reason, when surfing the Net, I keep hearing clicking sounds, seems when I use my mouse but other times when I'm not using my mouse. I don't know if that is a problem that I should call a tech for or not. It is getting to be irritating, hearing that clicking. Also, I have McAfee 2006 firewall software. Today when starting up my computer it said there was an error with the application MPF trayerror. I looked into Mcafee and they wanted my mpftrayerrors.txt file to be emailed to them and even though I can find the file during a search, when I look into Windows explorer to attach, it doesn't show up. Anyway how can I get it to show up in windows explorer? Thanks!

I've recently bought EVGA 7300 GS vc, with 256 mb memory installed. However, the "problem" is - it says 256 mb on the box. EVGA 7300 comes both in several versions, including 256 mb and 512 as well. When I installed it and viewed info about it in the device manager, it says the vcard has 512 mb on it. Not that I complain or anything, I just thought that maybe, it's a recent trend that's made up, or if it's compatibility issues with my mb, or vc decided to steal some RAM or (what I actually hope for) somebody was incompetent enough to put a 512 mb vcard into the box and sell it as 256mb, or something else I haven't thought about. Main parts of comp are: EVGA 7300 GS vcard, Asus P5NSLI mb, Kingston 1gb DDR2 667Mhz RAM, Intel Conroe e6400 cpu, plus some other add-ons, like a PSU, ethernet card and LG dvd burner. I don't really want to go to the place where I bought it to check, since they could either change it to 256mb version or make me pay extra for what they sold. Any ideas?

yeah so, i was thinking something along the line of 3.0+ ghz clock, 2-4+gb ram, 120+gb harddrive. 512+ graphics card ???

well, my question is that i am in the market for a high performace gaming desktop, willing to spend up to 2000 pounds (about $3800), im looking at the dell xps and the alienware area-51.
they both have about the same specs (what mentioned above), but both seems to have slow proccesing speeds, about 2.8ghz duo. (not sure about FSB).

does any1 have any advise for me about what pcs are best for gaming, and the minimum amount of ram/proccesing speed etc neccesary.

thanks.
