No, its because you
1: have to much chit runnin in the background! Turn off twelve of those thirteen messengers, and half dozen of those file sharing sites and whatever else you think you needed runnin in the background!
2: insist on using file sharing sites or peer to peer sites and dont realize that your PC is infected with adware, spyware, viruses, etc!

Shared graphics suck, yes. It's not even usually a real card, but a port on the motherboard. But unless you're playing games, I don't expect you'd see any real speed problems. For games you need a real graphics card, period. Something like a Geforce 6600 or ATI X1300 at the minimum.

Chances are it's too many startup programs like skype, AIM, AOL, weatherbug, Quicktime, and spyware/adware that's slowing you down.

Download Spybot search & destroy and Ad-Aware Personal, have them scan your system, that should speed you up considerably. And of course do a complete virus-scan.
