I have a two year old Emachine that won't start. It was working perfect, all security up to date. Well I shut it down one noght and everything was fine. When I turned it on the next morning, all that was going was the fan. It would not boot up or show anything on the monitor. Any ideas? XP SP2

The PC in question has an HDD of 37GB (25GB free space), 1.73 GHz Processor and 128MB Ram. On Startup , it doesn't give me any icons, and I have to make them appear throughthe task manager. It also takes an inordinate amount of time to boot up completely. I have seen something called a Sony Picture Package that seems to be causing the problem. Also the HDD is not FAT formatted, but NTFS. When closing down, the PC gets to a level where it tells me it is shutting down, but immediately begings starting up again. In contrast, I have another PC which only has a 20GB HDD (13 in use), 144MB RAM and a 1GHz Processor which works faster than the one mentioned above. Can anyone help me out?

alright then what exactly is the difference if the ghz are the same in each of the models
Example :
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T5500 (1.66 GHz)
vs
AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-52(1.6GHz/512KB)

they are both 1.6GHz but what is really the difference??

I'm running XP with realtek ac97 v5.1.
The left speaker is no longer putting out noise (AT ALL). I am configured for stereo and speakers work fine when I put them on my laptop. What could the possibilities be?
Have tried updating drivers, is there a config prob I don't know about or is it in my tower, or AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! HELP ME PLEASE.

There are noises coming out of my system's hard disk. Like for example when I download an Acrobat document, there is a lot of noise as if Hard Disk is fetching something from very 'far-off'. My hardware engineer says that the Hard Disk is nearing end of its life and will crash soon. I am using this disk since early 1999.

Questions:
1. What do I do in advance so that I dont lose any of my data?
2. Can data be recovered if Hard Disk crashes suddenly?
3. How frequently should one change the Hard Disk?
4. Which brand should I opt for?

Plz answer all questions. I know I am asking for too much!

okay so my d hard drive is no longer showing in my computer. i've done all the regular stuff, so please no stupid suggestions! there's no dust, bios is recognizing it, cables have been reseated. i had a problem with the tower beeping but i reseated the ram now it doesn't beep anymore. it's a maxtor, and i need it back to store stuff on, c drive has no VERY limited space. HELP, HELP, HELP!!!!!!!

I have done an assignment for uni about two months ago on my computer. I printed it off and have misplaced that so I went to reprint it for tomorrow and it's not on my computer. I have a Compaq Presario SR1901WM.
256MB Memory, 80GB Hard Drive, Use phoneline for the Internet.

I was wondering, how can I increase the speed at which I download clips and movies. Like on Youtube, it takes almost 15 minutes to download a 4 minute clip. Same thing when downloading clips or songs from other sites. They load up fast and play fine after the initial download, its just the first time that takes forever.

NOTE I have no plans of getting high speed from Yahoo or anyone else, or going with a cable line. So give me any and all other solutions.

I have a Compaq Presario with a AMD Sempron Processor 3200+ that runs at a speed of 1.8GHz and i have 768MB of RAM with a ATI Radeon X200 series card with top memory of 256MB. My Star Wars Battlefront seems to be acting retarded.
