You have to stop the processes running first.

You can run MS config and stop them loading at boot up, re-boot your pc then uninstall it.

Symantec/Norton applications have always buried themselves deeply into your registry values.I used to be a big fan of all things Symantec, but learned many years ago that a lot of the apps are resource hungry and can be a pain to get rid of!! Some of these suggestions posted will work.. but depending on what may have been running when you did your initial install...there may be hooks left in to various parts of your system!!Use the proper uninstaller tool from Symantec and you will be sure to get rid of all junk relating to the uninstall..Hope this helps you !!

sounds like a hijack. a number of the solutions above at the instantaneous are not suitable as there's no information superhighway. visit 'administration Panel' / 'uninstall classes' and attempt uninstalling equipment protection and malwareremovalbot. attempt operating 'abode windows Defender' If that doesn't artwork it could be a huge decision to take it to a pc save and pay to get rid of this malware / secret agent ware, even even though it really is in basic terms not lower priced. both that or..... decrease back up each and every thing important onto DVD or flashdrive and reformat the puzzling pressure and reinstall the operating equipment from the installation disk

No....
Symantec will send a tool to uninstall their stuff.
Dont try it yourself!
If you do, things HAVE to be uninstalled in an order, or it wont go anywhere.
They will gladly help you. They made all the anti-virus stuff go into places on your HD that you would unlikely ever find. Trust me on this, I have first hand experience!!!!

First of all you need to shut down anitvirus program completely. that is done by removing it from MS CONFIG and re-start. Then try unstalling.

Reboot your machine holding down F8 (if that doesn't work it's F2) and select safe mode. OK It looks horrible because it's not using your graphics driver. You should be able to delete it from there.

Reboot again and put all your icons back where they should be.
