0x000000D1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

The system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high. The most typical cause is a bad device driver (one that uses improper addresses). It can also be caused by faulty or mismatched RAM, or a damaged pagefile.

Everytime I plug in a certain device, it goes into a blue screen saying page default thing. And then when I restart, the sound drivers sometimes go bad too.

I'm looking to build a Home Theater cpu; bare with me, I don't know much about computers. I have an AMD Athlon XP 3200 2.2 Ghz 400FSB 512K XP3200 processor, which I believe is a Socket A. I've been told this should be plenty for anything I want to do, but I don't know what else I should try to get? This is my idea of what I'd like to do (and feel free to offer suggestions that might be better)

- Plenty of hard drive space, I was looking at a tower with 6 3.5 internal drive bays (that's where the hard drives go right?)
- I want to be able to record TV (as well as having the option of pausing live TV)
- Eventually, I plan to hook this computer up to a projector and a receiver for surround sound capabillities
- IMy music collection will be on there, but I'm not as concerned with the quality in that area, I plan on focusing on video quality (playback and recording)

I'm saving up the money to buy the computer, so I'm buying it in pieces... where do I start? Where should I alter my goals?

Last year I bought a new 128 mb card ,the Nvidia GeForce Mx 4000 (if that acctually means anything to you)but it wasn't powerful enough for Black and White 2 and even slowed down playing Civilization 4. So I figure I probably need a 256 mb card right? If that's the case what's a good card that will run most any games but is aslo fairly inexpenssive?

P.S. Please don't just refer me to tiger eletronics or best buy.

I'm trying to help a friend with his PC, and he has a problem I've never seen before. He can use his computer for hours with no problems, but as soon as he tries to get online it shuts off. No blue screen or anything, it just shuts off.

We reformatted it and swapped the NIC card with no success. I thought it might be overheating, but we applied a little extra thermal paste and made sure the fan was running fine, even tried running with the case open, but it's still doing it.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? What might be causing this?

I want to defragment my hard drive just to try to clean things up a bit, and everytime I try it gives me this error message

"Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: (C:).

Please run Chkdsk /f."

I have tried run>chkdsk / f, it gave me the option of running after the next boot. I did that, tried again, still nothing. Any help would be great.

it will not read or reconize that a cd has been put in and after some spining spits it out, but it plays dvds fine.........please please help me fix this as can get no help from Mac online, or on the phone or in there shops thanks m

I tried to reformat my computer by booting windows from the CD and now all my font is large. I have followed all troubleshooting tips on changing the font size but it is not working. I also am having trouble reinstalling my drivers. I put in the Utilities and Drivers CD that came with my computer but it didn't work. My warranty is up on my computer so I can't call dell. Can someone help?

First off I've already found a case with what I need with it. Is a 600w power supply over doing it? I don't want to build a powerful gaming rig, just something fast but can play games like HL2 at a good speed. Now I'm looking for a motherboard with an AMD processor. My old computer was suddenly off and wouldnt turn on anymore when I returned home one day. I was going to buy a new one anyway but the guy at radioshack told me it could be power supply or my motherboard.Anyway I have a new computer now but need to transfer the stuff off the hard drives on my old computer to the hard drives on my new one. I dont wanna have to fix the other computer yet so powering it on wouldnt be an option so is there a way to connect the old hard drive to my new computer via some kinda usb or other connection?
