PC is Better

MAC has about an 8% or less share of the computer market. More software, hardware, etc. is made for PCs. More people service PCs and parts are readily available instead of from Apple only.

I would stick with a PC until apple can show at least 25% market share. If your PC get slower and slower, what are you downloading off the internet? Some basic maintenance in clearing out temp files probably will speed it up.

Macs are great if you are doing a lot of desktop publishing, graphics work etc. If you're not doing any of that stuff, PC is a better bet.

Computers aren't meant to have a huge life and if you've had your Sony for years, that is probably the problem.

Do you regularly defrag it? Do you have a registry repair program that you run every week? Do you run a spyware removal program once a week?

If your computer is getting too slow and you don't want to upgrade, if you do a full system reformat (remember to back up everything) you'll find it will work a lot faster again.

You might have spyware and viruses, and that might be why it's slower

As for which is best, PC or Mac. . PC's are more prone to viruses and spyware, but if you're careful and wise, you can avoid those (Macs, for the most part, don't have viruses that affect them - yet, but most experts think they will soon, as more people buy them they are a bigger target for the virus-writers). .

the downside of Macs (besides that they are weird and diff from PC's) is that they cost a lot more.

It may be worth it, but that's up to you.

I'd suggest you go to:

http://www.techguy.org and signup (created a username and password, and go to their 'security" forum (under forums), and post a new thread asking for help checking for a virus or spyware, and they'll answer back in the thread and tell you what to do to find out and how to fix it if you do..

it's all free and they are real experts, really know their stuff.

good luck and God bless you :D
