it could be that since it is still a beta there is a start up problem, and you should report it to microsoft to prevent a mass distribution of messed-up windows vista programs. another possibility is that your CPU is old and may not be able to process the information, causing it to not accept the new program

There are definite computer requirements for Vista - only the newest machines will be able to run it - and many of the newest machines won't be configured to.
You really Need 1 gig of ram
a dual core processor (or 800 series intel chip)
