You have to many programs running when you startup your computer. Go to Microsoft's homepage and find your OS, and learn how to turn off the programs you honestly dont need. This should speed your system up.

Spyware mostly. As you surf various websites, intentional security holes left in various parts of Microsoft Windows make it easy to install these completely undetected on your computer. Various types of software can get rid of a handful of these, but for the most part there is nothing that can be done about this until Microsoft decides that leaving those security holes open is too dangerous to the integrity of the internet and the reputation of its products. That day will likely come when a viable competitor surfaces that is interested in not having this crap.

Mostly, spyware just tracks where you surf but some of it is truly malicious in its actions. The real problem, however is the sheer amount of it. Dozens and dozens of these little programs, many of them running even when the browser is closed, uses up computer resources and slows your machine.

The ONLY solution to this is to periodically nuke your machine. Delete the partition and create a new one. Format it and install windows from scratch. This will fix the problem for a while. Prolly doing this once every 6 months is a good idea.

Do this, go to start, then programs, go to accessories then find system tools, and then disk clean up, it clears your computer of unnecessary files, you can also do a disk defragment this will take a few minutes but will make your computer run faster and more efficiently.

Crappy operating systems like Windows slow down the more you use them. Plus, Windows wasn't even designed for network use therefore it accepts spyware which can make your computer slow. Add to that all the viruses. Of course there's all sorts of software to prevent this ****. Except for the first thing I mentioned.

Have you did a reboot lately? what about a scan disk, defrag? have you did that resently.

what about cleanup.exe? another thing that will slow your computer down is addware. have you ran an anti-addware program to see?

Too many programs. The more "stuff" you have on your computer, the slower it will run.
