It is possible that some spyware or viruses have gotten on your pc. First I would run an online scan or some type of spyware scan to verify that it is or is not some type of infection. A very good scan to run is the Panda Activescan. Just type in Panda Activescan in a google search and it will take you to the site. Run the scan on your hard drive to ensure that nothing is on there or if something is on there you can clean it off. The scan will automatically disinfect viruses and show you the location of the spyware and adware that if finds so you can manually delete them off your pc.
If if does find some I would try to get other programs to clear off your pc. A good program that will run multiple scans is Hitman Pro. It is a freeware program that will run up to six different removal programs on your pc. While you are doing these scans I would runs these programs in Safe Mode.
Just reboot your pc and press F8 quickly and select Safe Mode with Networking. Select the Administrator account and run the Hitman Pro program to try and clean off your pc.
I would also test your hardware just to safe. You can go to www.testmyhardware.com which will run a comprehensive hardware scan on your pc and show you the results. It is probably not a hardware issue but just to be safe. Like before I would run these scans in Safe Mode with Networking Mode.
Another option even after cleaning off your pc is reinstalling Internet Explorer 6 or whichever browser you have that you are using. Here is a site that will give you multiple options on repairing or reinstalling IE6 -- http://www.theeldergeek.com/repair_reinstall_ie_and_oe_6.htm.
If you have exhausted all other options you might consider reinstalling Windows to correct these problems. In this case
back up all your data and run the Operating System disc with Windows XP on it or whichever OS you are running. This should be your last option after you have exhausted all other options. Best of luck

If your computer hangs or reboots while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yk5zpr
