I have done an assignment for uni about two months ago on my computer. I printed it off and have misplaced that so I went to reprint it for tomorrow and it's not on my computer. I searched everywhere and can not find it! I never delete my stuff. Does the computer move files? Does anyone know what could have happened? I would appreciate any help. Thank you so much!

Try the search feature. Search using "with text containing" and enter a word or two (not too general) you know are in the report.

Good luck.

Windows will not move files of yours without you knowing. The closest thing to that is the desktop cleanp wizard, btu that only removes icons or shortcuts you have not used in a long time.

Windows has not deleted your file. It is more likely you have saved over it, deleted it, or misplaced it.

Again, good luck.

Just clock on start Menu> then search>
You will see the search window. On left side of your window you have different search options. Click on "All files and folders". Now, If you created the file in word then write "*.doc" in file name text box. IF u dont know then write "*.*". Now in next text box named "word or phrase in the file" write one or two words that you have wrote in that file which you create. You may explore other search option like when you modified the file or file size if u know. In the look in box select " My Computer" from drop down menu But if u dont know then just click on "search" buttton.

this will display a list of files in which the particular word or phrase is found.

May be this can solve your prob

Ok....dont worry! It's inside your HD someplace, and all you have to do is search for some things specific to your stuff you lost. Go to search all files and folders, then type in "name of document", or "my doc's" might have it. If you have 1 HD only, it'll be easier.
Dont you remember where the computer told you it was going when it first got put in?
