All hard drives have a minimum & maximum temperature range for normal operation. All spec sheets for most all hard drives contain this information.

This example is for a Western Digital hard drive :

Temperature (English)
Operating 41° F to 131° F
Non-operating -40° F to 149° F

Just look up your hard disk model on the manufacturer's website for details about how sensitive to temperature your unit is.

The hard-drive is a disk spinning at either 5400, 7200, or 10,000 rpm so they create a lot of heat. I wouldn't be worried unless it was below zero for an extended period of time. Keep it cool, man.

If your computer hangs or reboots while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yk5zpr
