I'm running XP with realtek ac97 v5.1.
The left speaker is no longer putting out noise (AT ALL). I am configured for stereo and speakers work fine when I put them on my laptop. What could the possibilities be?
Have tried updating drivers, is there a config prob I don't know about or is it in my tower, or AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! HELP ME PLEASE.

I have ALL cables and speakers work fine on another computer but as soon as I plug them back into mine the left gets nothing.
As I plug them in if i put my ear to the left speaker I can hear that "feedback" sound as the output jack goes in so its getting current but no sound (If that makes sense?)

Also, the headphone jack also stopped putting out on left, so I know the problem is in the tower somewhere. (sound card, driver, codec?)
TRUST ME, the speakers work fine and I'm set on stereo.

sound card could be broken. then again maybe it is just the female connector on your sound card, not making a good connection or shorting out the left to the neutral. not sure how you would fix that one. i woldn't want to take a soldering gun to my compter.. if you have an extra sound card sitting around, stick it in and give it a spin.

Assuming that you have a cable from the PC that goes first to your right speaker (which is working) and then another cable goes from the right speaker to the left speaker which is not working), I would suspect that you have a bad connection or wire going between the speakers. Try a diferrent sent of speakers on the PC and see if you get sound from both. If you do, it is time to replace that speakers. Very common.

Your computer may have its sound on mono somehow. You could try Control Panel > Sound. I would help to guide you but I'm on a restricted computer right now :(

Good luck!
