I want to get a new pc, what I want to do requires a new pc, here is the current pc that I have, please tell me what its worth:

Computer:
Pentium 4 processor at 1.4GHZ or 1400mhz
640 MB SD ram
40 GB hard drive, 40 gb hard drive (slave)
Pioneer 16X Dual Layer DVD Burner
LG 16X DVD Player
Nvidia 64MB video card, Onboard sound, 2 USB ports, Floppy Drive, Ethernet card

Other hardware
Sony Trinitron 15' monitor
Dell Keyboard, Logitech 3 button mouse

I bought it from MDG in November 2001, so its almost 5 years old, its slow because I have so much stuff on it, but it runs ok if your just surfing the net. Its a good pc, but times have changed and I need a new pc for internet/application use.

As for how much Im looking for, well its between $400-$650. Does this sound reasonable? The dvd drives I bought brand new, dvd burner was bought this year so is only 2 months old, dvd player was bought in 2002 and still works, as for the monitor, I got it in 2003 and works great!

Well, for $424 on Dell's web site, I can get a B110 system with:

*2.53 GHz Processor, probably about 50% faster than your processor)
*512 MB of DDR RAM (much faster than SDRAM, though 128 MB less than you; this won't make that much of a difference)
*80 GB Hard Drive (equal Storage; less confusing).
*Single DVD Dual Layer Burner (probably on par with your burner; but no second drive, which costs $20 to add on newegg)
*Integrated Graphics that will probably be on par with your 64 MB card (64 is too little nowadays - 128 should be minimum; 256 MB Recommended)
*17" Monitor (I've thrown away more 15" monitors that I care to admit - Sony or not, I wouldn't value it at more than $20)
*Keyboard, Mouse
*1 year warranty (Realistically - are you actually offering a warranty for 1 year?)

So when you look at what you can get NEW for $424 why would you pay $400 (let alone $650) for what you have?

I would say you can get, AT MOST $200 from anyone who knows computers. If you want to rip people off, then you can try to find a sucker for $300 or $400. Frankly, I wouldn't pay more than $125 for it.

For a better idea, compare past sold items on Ebay for systems of similar configuration.

I'd like to get some of what you've been smoking. A 5 year old computer, even with some upgrades, isn't worth much. Look at newegg.com for new ones.

That computer is out of it's prime, so you probably wouldn't find a buyer anytime soon. The best bet to do in this situation is donate it and report the donation on your tax return.

www.newegg.com, fill out the trade in form and that will tell you what they would buy it for. I wouldnt pay more then $100 for it.
Swap the new drives for old ones and list it for $150. If you get a buyer yay!

you're probably better off just giving it to someone who doesn't have a computer or keeping it and setting up a cool network. Or maybe you could see all the computer parts separately. i agree with the guy who would buy it for 100 bucks..or maybe not even that....good luck.

I am really sorry. You are expecting pretty high. Nowadays, computers are becoming more cheap when it is old. I guess it will worth 250$ max.

You can always donate it. There are many families or schools who would use it. Plus a donation would be tax-deductible.
