I have 4 total DIMM slots in my current PC, I have two(2) 512MB DDR2 sticks in slots one and two and two(2) 1024MB sticks in slots 3 and 4. They are both different PC speeds. The 512's are PC2 3200 and the 1024's are PC2 5100. What slots will the 512's work best in and same goes for the 1024's. I have the 2 512's in slots 1 and 2 and then 1024's in slots 3 and 4 for a total of 3MB of DDR2 memory. Is there a better way to config my ram sticks so my pc runs at its best ? tks GTG

you hv the memory in the best possible slots as of now, considering what you hv...but not that whole combination is working at PC2 3200 speed since the lowest speed of the combination prevail...suggest that you remove both 512MBs and replace with 1 units of 1GB of PC2 5100 speed...if not, you may remove the 512MB modules altogether...the mem capacity may me down to 2GB toatl, but speed upto that loading [initial few application you open] would be much faster

I can answer this, but I really need to know a little more about your system, just give me an e-mail with preferably the model number of your computer, or with the model number of your processor. Also just so I am sure, you mean PC2 5300 or 5400 right, because there is no 5100. My e-mail is in my profile.

Hello

Many on-line sellers of ram will have information on the correct speeds and type of ram for your system. A few have diagnostic ability and will look at your machine to determine the best ram.

Kahlon has a memory configurator. Plug in your computer specs and they'll tell you what will work. They also have a good FAQ section and pretty decent prices. Chief Value is also pretty good on prices.
