What happens is this. My computer either:
- freezes after a few minutes of being switched on (only sometimes using it and not leaving it idle for more than 5 minutes stops it from freezing)
- randomly restarts
- switches off, and then it does not switch on, unless I remove the power plug from the mains for at least 5 or 6 seconds.

Within last few months I had professionals trying to sort it out - the fan replaced for a bigger one, a new motherboard, a new HD and new DVD drives (software using those drives for longer period of time has also the tendency to freeze). I have my Norton Antivirus up to date.
What can be the cause of the problem and how can I sort it out without just pouring more money into it? Please help.

(People, please do not waste our time by giving silly and unhelpful answers just to get two points. It is a waste of space and time.)

It restarts from the very beginning.

could be a bad memory module or power supply ... theres not too many things left lol ... does it do it from a fresh windows install?

Try the free AVG installation instead, Norton is over-rated and causes a lot of problems for many users.
Check your settings as it could be in there, my old modem had the automatic switch off programme ticked when it arrived and non of the professionals spotted it and after two very frustrating months I found it myself.

Open your Case and take a look at your motherboard. Make sure non of the capacitors are blown or leaking.(make sure they are all flast and should be shiney) google image search capacitor if you dont know what they look like. If they are blown buy a new PC.

If they are good look to replace your power supply. If it still does the same reformat your computer doing a destructive restore. Last take it to best buy or a computer place look to spend some bucks and be without it a couple of days.

You have a bug. Get something other than Norton. Do a search on google for free virus tools. Check the source is of quaility (look for awards)
Sometimes hakers make viruses to beat the anti virus program.

Check your power source/supply.

Best of luck

RESET THE COMPUTER USING THE 'RESTORE' SYSTEM WHICH WILL SURELY BE DETAILED IN THE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS. Your Computer,- you have given no maker details, has obviously been infected with a virus of some sort and if your 'Professional' cannot resolve it by restoration, then it may be the time to completely change your computer. Have you thought of asking PC World to give it a complete service ?

Hmmm.. Remove Power case... Unscrew it carefully... Remove all the DUST from the Power case.. Assemble it again carefully.

And there you go.... Or... Try considering buying a new powercase with higher voltage support.

I would suggest reinstalling Windows and find yourself a different Anti-virus program. If you didn't do a clean install,by clean I mean reformat the HD you might want to try that before replacing anything else.

Cntrl+Alt+delete, carry all of them down. A show screen will pop up prompting you what you desire to do. decide for close down on the menu. Shutting your pc down on the tower each and all the time is amazingly undesirable on your pc. It seems such as you would be able to desire to clean out your background and run a systems examine.

You need to go to this website. Download System Mechanic 6 Professional. Once oyu have installed it, restart your pc. Once that is done you will need to run Drivescrubbe2. Once that is done you will need to restart your pc again. After that is done that should fix your problem.
