The X2 is better, the dual core more than makes up for the .4 Ghz difference. But get a Core 2 Duo, it is far better than both.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Dual Core Processor

Get the first one. It is dual core so it will be a lot faster, but I personally think you should spend the extra dollar for e6400. It is very worth it. If you cannot afford the e6400 then go for the e6300. It is about the same speed except a tiny bit slower. Then again you can overclock it if you wish, but I personally don't think overclocking is necessary.

Hi,
The AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice 2.4GHz 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor is a better processor for Gaming and pretty much anything else. The extra 0.4GHz is a big bonus. Just make sure that your motherboard/mainboard will support over 2GHz.
Good luck with the buy. Have your tried this website? http://www.komplett.ie/
