Desktops - October 2006

my hard disk info is like this:
1) 80 gb-sata
2) 4 partitions and some unallocated free space
3) C:7gb ->winxp, D:25gb->data ,similarly E: and f: ALL FAT32
4) UNALLOCTED SPACE:10GB(i have kept it aside for linux )
NOW MY QUERY IS THAT
**I WANT A DUAL BOOT SYSTEM WITHOUT AFFECTING THE "MBR"
**SO THAT I AM ABLE T REMOVE LINUX/WIN WITHOUT AFFECTING EACH OTHER
**IS THIS FEASIBLE?
** is the / boot partition necessary apart from / and swap
** ALSO I DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA ABOUT "GRUB" AND IT CORRUPTING THE "MBR"
** ONE MORE THING I NEED IS "gcc compiler" ! DOES KUBUNTU COME LOADED WITH IT ?IF NOT PLEASE GUIDE ME REGARDING THE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE!

** DUE TO THESE DOUBTS(AND FEAR) ONLY I HAVE DEFERRED TO INSTALL LINUX!!!!!! SO IF ANYBODY COULD HELP ME OUT I WILL BE EXTREMELY THANKFUL

I am trying to build a computer. It is going to have 2 dvd burners, and will be thx capable with 7.1 surround. I want the ease of hooking everything up, so I want all the extras to go through the computer. I will have a vcr, ps3, and xbox360 all hooked up as inputs into the computer. the output will be to the tv, projector, and receiver....any ideas on how to get input that can connect the vcr, ps3, xbox360 and cable box to the computer, to then route it to the two viewing stations?

It happens mostly while browsing, restarts automatically, and when prompted to send the error report to Microsoft, Microsfot replies that its a malfunction in the display or ram, ive disabled my built-in display. but still it occurs.

Where's it gone? It should be shift + 3 on my keyboard, but when I try this all I get is the # sign. Some of the other buttons are the wrong way round - the @ and " for example. But the pound sign isn't anywhere! Why is this and what can I do about it?

I've got a 530w 20 pin psu. built a new conroe 2.13 system with an asus p5n32 sli se deluxe mobo. the mobo has a 24 pin psu connection. will a psu with 20 pin connector work just leaving the other 4 pin part empty? or do I have to have a 20+4 psu?

I have 2 cd drives in my computer, D: & E:.. My D: drive is a CD R/RW drive and E: is only a CD/R drive. On my desktop, in My Computer; sometimes I open the folder and both drives are showing up. Most of the time though, I open the folder and both drives are not there. My question is this; Why do my drives seem to come and go more often than what my kids do, LOL?

My System Restart When It Reaches Windows XP . I Then format it and installed a new copy then system was running fine but after few days again the same problem occured . i asked my system assembler he told that the problem is in RAM . i Changed it but the same thing happened
