You don't see any notification because Microsoft thought that we are all too dumb to figure out the notification so they set it to auto reboot.

Since you are asking to see the notification, all you have to do is.....

1 - click start
2 - click control panel (Click the link to view it if it warns you)
3 - double click System
4 - click the advanced tab
5 - find the "Startup and Recovery" and click settings
6 - Under "system failure" uncheck "Automatically Restart and click ok

By doing this, Windows won't auto-reboot when your system crashes. Instead, it will dump some information for you. I hope you know how to decipher it. (Maybe write it down and ask a geek friend.)

You can also check the system event by going back to the control panel and.....

1 - double click "Administrative Tools"
2 - double click "Event Viewer"
3 - Click on Application for Application events, security for Security evens and system for system events. You will be suprised.

There could be a couple of problems... More details would help narrowing down this problem more...

#1>You could be having some kind of spyware or adware... Go to adaware and download the latest version of adaware and run it... You can get the free copy of ad-aware at: http://www.download.com/3000-20-10045910.html

#2 This could be a driver issue. Does this happen when you navigate to a specific page.. if yes please post which page it is

#3 You could be having some disk issues.. Go open windows explorer by clicking on start--> Run--> explorer
Then right click on C drive and select properties. --> Click on the tools tab and then click on the button that says "Check Now" is the check for errors in this volume section. and follow the subsequent instructions.

After you try the above, let me know if this has fixed your problem

Yup faulty RAM is the most likely answer. An excellent RAM diagnostic can be downloaded from Microsoft (believe it or not) You can dowload it from http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp then it comes as a CD image so you burn image to disk. Boot from the CD and watch the diagnostic. Let it do 6 or so full passes.

If the RAM is OK I would look for overheating. Pull the CPU heatsink and renew the heatsink paste.

Hope this helps

Just a wild guess but do you have at least 20% free space on your hard drive? Browsing uses a lot of RAM, so unless you have 512 MB or more it will have to use the hard drive and if it runs out of space there the PC will crash. Unfortunately, I have also seen a lot of Virus that cause PC's to reboot. Good Luck!

Few questions. How old is the pc, how much have you added to it (video cards, ram, sound cards, fans, led's etc) It may be a virus but more likely is the power supply is inadequate for what you have in your system. Most basic machines only come with 300w psu's, I'd recommend at least 450w.

It could be so many things....

Bad ram...
Bad powersupply...
Virus in Windows.....
Failing hard drive....

I would say check the ram first since that is the error you are getting. (Well, after running antivirus software and all that.)

There are memory tests out there... Like memtest 86.

I suggest reading up and doing plenty of research before troubleshooting anything. You don't want to make things worse.

if you are running windows xp, the chances are that you have a device driver issue.

my camera program crashes my pc sometimes without any notice. but microsoft should inform you of this problem if you send the "error report" when prompted.

i think it has to do with the driver not being digitally signed and being a proprietary program (XP).

even though xp is a good os, they still have alot of quirks to work out.

Let me ask you a couple of questions too, When was the last time that you cleaned your cache, or deleted your Internet temporary files, cookies and history or you did a check disc or defrag? Do those things and see if the problem goes away before looking any further.
