With the launch of quad core processor by the end of this year, I wonder when the 2 core duo processor which had only been around for only 6 months going to fall in price.

It will not drop drastically in price for a while, becasue the quad core will be the really high end expensive version. Not until AMD comes out with something to compete, then they will slash prices.

Good news they already are, you just have to find the right model, for laptops especially.
As for desktops, expect the Dual core Core2's to fall in price around Christmas. This is because the Kentsfield (quad core) will be hitting the market around then. The entire Core2 line should fall as well.
Also, AMD's new Socket AM2's just hit the shelves, so that will help as well.
