Does it cost less to build it yourself or to get it from a manufacturer? I know just buying one is easier, but I I want to build a really high-end Computer with a 1.5TB HD, 2GB of memory, an ATI Radeon X1950XTX 512mb DDR4 PCI-E Crossfire setup, a ATI All-In-Wonder with TV In/out, HD Audio, Intel Core DUO (or Whatever is Intel's fastest Double CPU setup) Running on Windows Vista Ultimate (I own an RC1 Copy). I could buy the motherboard, tower, and all the other stuff, but will it cost more? It'll be hard work building, but will it be worth it? I won't have any Tech support, so If anything goes haywire, I'll be standing alone. Or will it cost more with buying the whole setup. If not my extreme-gamer setup, Is it better to build your own PC or to buy one from the store?

It won't go into sleep mode. When I put it in sleep mode the drives rev up and just sit there. I have to hold the power button down to get it to stop. In order to start it back up I have to unplug it from the wall for ten seconds.

If someone sits at my computer and goes into screen properties, they can change the time setting effectively preventing my computer from logging off. Does anybody know of a method to prevent people from changing my screen settings with password protection?

if i do ctrl-alt-del it doesn't do anything so i unplugged it and turned it back on. windows won't load, instead i get a blue screen saying "disk read error"... my friend checked it and says my hard disk is broken, coz it's not even recognized when hooked up as slave on his computer. so he replaced that broken hdd with my old 20g hdd... it worked for 3 days. i tried to open the homework i saved in email and the pc froze again and won't do anything to turn off so i unplugged it, it goes to the window that asks if you want to go to safe mode or last known good configuration and anything i choose on there goes to a blue screen that says stop c000023a or something like that and to contact tech support. i am not in america so i can't call dell... what can i do to fix my pc? what could be wrong? i'm just scared to go to a shop being clueless and all. thanks.

What is the best HSF to cool my intel PD 805 and quiet. I'm thinking about over clocking some day soon. I was going to make a home made water block out of a solid block of Al I have but I don't know if the Al and brass connectors and water will work together or not. So if you have any info for me on over clocking this chip and a HSF or anything.

This is my first PC I built my self, I have read some stuff on newegg.com reviews and Toms but i dont know where to start OCing like CPU voltage? FSB speed? Mem clock? mem voltage

Asus P5ND2 SLI
PD 805 2.66MHz 533MHz FSB
2 x 1GB OCZ 800Mhz mem clocked to 667 right now
600Watt active power factor power supply
GPU XFX 6800 XT

I have an old E-machine with a; Samsung CD-ROM SC-148c installed. The thing is powered up and the drawer comes out when the button is pushed. The light blinks like it is trying to read the disk but nothing happens. When I open Windows media player it doesn't see it, or any of the other media player software I have installed on this machine. It just stopped reading. What did I do? I've done a lot of downloading and deleting of programs, could I have turned something off by mistake?

The specs from ASUS say that the mobo will only support as high as Sempron 3000+, but that could be because Sempron 3400+ wasn't even on the market when the last BIOS revision was done. Is there another difference between Sempron 3400 and 3000, other than speed?

I would like to take pictures of a person and superimpose them onto another picture. For example, take a picture of field and then take another picture of a person and make it appear as if the person was standing in the field. A free program on the computer that I could download that would be great.
