if i do ctrl-alt-del it doesn't do anything so i unplugged it and turned it back on. windows won't load, instead i get a blue screen saying "disk read error"... my friend checked it and says my hard disk is broken, coz it's not even recognized when hooked up as slave on his computer. so he replaced that broken hdd with my old 20g hdd... it worked for 3 days. i tried to open the homework i saved in email and the pc froze again and won't do anything to turn off so i unplugged it, it goes to the window that asks if you want to go to safe mode or last known good configuration and anything i choose on there goes to a blue screen that says stop c000023a or something like that and to contact tech support. i am not in america so i can't call dell... what can i do to fix my pc? what could be wrong? i'm just scared to go to a shop being clueless and all. thanks.

maybe the OS is not working properly. there is a parity error in your computer or maybe a fatal error in the system happened, just call someone professional in comp. tech. and check if it have a virus, if it does, remove it, if it does'nt detect anything, change your system unit to see if the CPU is the problem

It is most likely your hard drive so you will have to contact Dell:

http://support.euro.dell.com/support/topics/topic.aspx/emea/shared/support/dellcare/en/contact_us?c=uk&l=en&s=gen

Because they use proprietory hardware the hard drive manufacturer will not be able to help so it is Dell you have to see. Don't fiddle with it too much because they love to void warranties, just email, ring and generally create a fuss and make sure you get a Setup disk as well.

Because it is still under warranty make sure you have your receipt or other proof of purchase. Dell have been insisting that their customer support services have improved so I hope you find that.... good luck.

i think... the windows might hav corrupted..!!! so, try to format the disk n re-install windows again...

Remember, dont unplugged the sys directly, wen the windows doesnt work or wen it is hanged.... even dis brings u problems in da future... so, try to restart the sys again... n chk for errors!!!

hope dis solves ur problem...
datz al 4 now....
gud luck..!!!
