You can upgrade it to the Intel Celeron D. The first column has the processors that are compatible for your computer, but I would still consult with Tech Support for further information.

Go to the motherboard manufacturers website. It will tell you what cpus the motherboard will support. Or check dell's website. They show the 3000 has support for the following processors:

# Intel® Pentium® 4 processor that runs at 2.8 GHz , 3.0 GHz, and 3.2 GHZ internally and 800 MHz externally with Hyper-Threading Technology

# Intel Pentium 4 processor that runs at 2.8 GHz internally and 533 MHz externally

# Intel Celeron® D processor 320, 325, 330, 335, and 340

Log on to Dell's site, go to the help and use the contacts page to ask them. They should be able to tell you every processor that will work on thier motherboard

Download this tool:http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-137.zip, unzip it run cpuz.exe. If it says you have socket 775 then you can, if it says socket 478 you can't.
