No, Hibernation is a state in which your computer shuts down to save power but first saves everything in memory on your hard disk. When you restart the computer, your desktop is restored exactly as you left it. Use hibernation to save power when you will be away from the computer for an extended time while working.

People seem to confuse Hibernate Mode with Standby Mode which is a state in which your monitor and hard disks turn off, so that your computer uses less power. When you want to use the computer again, it comes out of standby quickly, and your desktop is restored exactly as you left it. Use standby to save power when you will be away from the computer for a short time while working. Because Standby does not save your desktop state to disk, a power failure while on Standby can cause you to lose unsaved information.

No it doesnt, you can even plug out your PC from the main but still it will be in hibernation mode. But I think it uses the battery power in the CPU, am yet to discover.

Hibernate is a feature whereby the contents of RAM is written to non-volatile storage, such as the hard disk efore powering off the system. Later the system can be restored to the state it was before hibernating, so that programs can continue executing as if nothing happened. Hibernating and restoring from hibernate is also generally faster than a hard reboot and, if necessary, can be done without user interaction (unlike shutting down, which often requires the user to specify if open documents should be saved).

To use hibernation the hard disk needs to have at least as much free space as there is RAM on the system.

It is also known as the sleep mode.

What is known is that it consums space, we really dont know about power consumption; particularly the one in the battery in the CPU.

Hibernate mode will save alll your RAM to a file in the C:\ directory, then your PC will turn off. You waste no power!

When you turn the PC back on, it will boot normally, except windows will restore what you had before hibernating.

None whatsoever. It backups everything in memory and pagefile then switches off the computer. Everything is restored on reboot.

Yes it does because the computer is still switched on, however the power consumption is greatly reduced.
