I just bought a new Power Up doom case and a new motherboard along with an AMD athlon 2.20 ghz 3700+ processor.. The case came with a standard 400 watt power supply.. I put together the whole thing and I was told by other technicians that took a look at it that I put it right.. so now the problem is the the computer won't turn on at all absolutely no movement.. I tried it with different wires tried flipping the switch to both sides on the back of the power supply so what could possibly be the problem?? is it just the power supply cuz if so then i can return it n get a new one r did i screw something up cuz if so then i just wasted about 250 dollars.. I'd like to hear some good answers from u people and I'm relying on u so just help me out here.. thanx everyone!!

I usually have doubts about my knowledge on pc hardware so I just need to ask a couple of questions regarding replacing a harddrive. There is a status message that says 'smartfailure' at bootup so that probably means I have to replace the hard drive with a new one.
However I had a little experience before with Sony desktops that the Windows OS and drivers discs that come with the desktop are specifically designed for that particular hardware. Would I need to find that particular model of hard drive that is screwing up?

I have 6 questions for the computers users here. This is for a english research paper that I have to write. Thanks for your opinion.

1. Which computer do you prefer, a Windows Based PC or Macintosh computer?

2. Which computer do you think has the best quality for the best price?

3. Do you think that price determines the quality of the computer you purchase?

4. If you use a windows based PC, Why do you think it is better than Macintosh computers?

5. If you use a Macintosh computer, Why do you think it is better than a windows based PC?

6. Overall, What do you think is the deciding factor when determining which computer system to purchase? Quality or Price?

I am trying to get the features of Star Wars Battle front II to work.
(Actually seeing the sky, background, etc.)
Should I update my graphics driver?
Will that solve the problem?
How?
All the ones I try "Are not compatible with my hardware"
Or... should I buy a graphics card?
And then update my driver to fit the card?
Is that how it works?

My computer powers on but will not boot. It gets to the "Pentium" screen and will not go any farther. I have tried to access the BIOS and it won't open. It makes one beep, and the cd/dvd rom lights up. I have had the computer for about 9 months, but the hard drive is only a month old. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I want to build my own computer, I have a tower, I have a cd/dvd drive, screen, keyboard etc.... the only problem is choosing a good internal hard drive, one that will support my entertainment system ... it doesn't have to be elite... I want one with a good price and enough memory.

This happens most of the time, but not every time. Any ideas on why this is happening? The screen and pointer just freeze. I regularly do a virus scan on it and defragment my hard drive etc. Thanks!

I got a computer with a loud fan - the fan noise is 27-47 but it always goes to 47. Its a homemade built computer. The processor is 478 chipset processor (Pentium 4). The computer fan is so loud. I've looked for fans replaced it and it is still loud. I dont wanna go through the hassel of buying online because if these are loud, I'll have to send them back etc.
What can I do to soundproof my case for a low price or a cheap home-made way. I don't necessarily want to replace my case. But are there some cheap homemade ways to make my pc case quiet? If you know of FOR SURE a quality silent fan that is actually quiet please let me know as well.

I noticed that my system properties box switches between saying 1.00 GHZ and 2.00 GHZ from time to time. Does this mean that only one processor is turned on at certain times, or is my system info box just wrong?

It is in AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ if that helps...
