I am able to get to the screen that shows all of the options such as normal, safe mode etc but when I enter the option for normal, nothing happens. What do I need to do to fix this problem?

Safe mode means it's logging there to protect your system
Do a Anti-Virus scan empty cookies temp and temporary internet files C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings
delete history as well
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Cookies
reboot hope it works
if not do a system restore if still no
finally fresh instal

If you cant get it to work, load into safe mode, shut downt he pc, let it sit for 10 minutes, and start it again in normal mode, without pressing the options screen.

If it still does not load, then you have most likely damaged or corrupted a file that is critical to loading windows...or a virus has done the same thing.

If you are certain you ran no program or command that would cause this, I would recommend an anti virus that runs in DOS prompt just to be sure :-)

just restart, you don't need to go in safe mode. Right click on the desktop and go to properties then under screen saver tab click the power saver button towards the bottom and change the settings.
