I just bought a new Power Up doom case and a new motherboard along with an AMD athlon 2.20 ghz 3700+ processor.. The case came with a standard 400 watt power supply.. I put together the whole thing and I was told by other technicians that took a look at it that I put it right.. so now the problem is the the computer won't turn on at all absolutely no movement.. I tried it with different wires tried flipping the switch to both sides on the back of the power supply so what could possibly be the problem?? is it just the power supply cuz if so then i can return it n get a new one r did i screw something up cuz if so then i just wasted about 250 dollars.. I'd like to hear some good answers from u people and I'm relying on u so just help me out here.. thanx everyone!!

You probably need a new power supply

When you say no movement at all that means to me:
-power supply fan not running
-no POST (power on self test sounds)
-no drives spinning
-no LED lights on at all

It is conceivable that you have a bad switch, the one that connects to the motherboard for a "soft" turn on. But since you have flicked the switch in back on and off, you would have noticed some "movement" when you flick it and it checks for the soft switch status.

I had this problem once, and I hadn't hooked up the CPU power. The CPU has its own power connector separate from the motherboard power. I didn't even know that, I thought it was some extra fan power or something.

You probably already did this, but you could make sure it's plugged in to a working outlet, and the power strip is turned on, etc.

If you can't figure it out, a local computer shop can troubleshoot it for you, possibly for about $20 or less (not including any repairs or parts).

You need to test the power supply to determine if that's the problem. You can use a multimeter or a power supply tester that you just plug the 20 or 24 pin plug into. You can get details on the correct voltages for the pinouts at:

make sure everything is plugged in in the right places. Also check if the power button is connected.
