If you think you are capable of doing it yourself, if not take to a repair shop, if so follow these steps:
1. get a cup of coffee.
2. drink the coffee.
3. then run down to your local wally world and get a can of air.
4.then when you get back home take and unplug the computer.
5.take the cover off the computer.
6.take the computer somewhere, maybe outside so you don't get the dirt all over the house.
7.take the can of air and blow out the inside of the computer.
8.put it back together.
9. start it up.
10. if you still here the noise from the fan, replace it.
11. if after that it still has problems, you may have a bad processor.
11.get a new computer from Dell!!!

To most of you above: No, it is not the cpu overheating or a lose fan or this would make the pc freeze up then crash or reboot. A lose fan will either burn out the cpu in a matter of seconds or the pc will not boot.

The increase in fan speed is most likely due to a high load on the cpu and the fan tries to cool it down more.

Most likely you are very low on hard drive space or you do not have sufficient ram.

You may also have a virus or be infected with spyware.
Scan for viruses and use a program called adaware to scan and remove spyware.

Sounds like a fan problem, could be the one for cpu, chipset or graphics card.

Most motherboards these days will monitor the temeperature and fan speed on these components. If the temperature gets too high then the fan will accelerate and the processor may slow down or even shut down.

Go into you BIOS and look at the settings for the temperature cutouts and fan speed warnings. You could possibly have a cutout set too low.

Visit the site for your motherboard and see if they have a utility for viewing temperatures and fan speeds through Windows. If they have then download and run it to see what's going on. Nvidia for instance have a utilty called Ntune for their motherboards.

hi, i'm no longer computer individual yet when your computer is crashing down back and back, you would possibly want to need to reformat it. there will be some in-built software or software which isn't functioning suited. If domicile windows are authentic, the blunders comments might want to grant you the answer. Deleting and the downloading the IE might want to be effective. that is likewise plausible that an " Anti-Virus" software will be interfering or aggravating your surfing noticeably once you've 2 courses concurrently. If computer also operating slow, then deleting "short-term cyber web information" and defragmentation would help. yet another good chance is your "protection" putting. no matter if that is extreme, then maximum of sites might want to no longer be opened. further, if " Cookies" are literally not allowed, then how come they'll open. so that you ought to enable "Cookies" So "factor of protection on your IE and permission for cookies will be both contributing factors. in case you do have 2 anti-virus programes operating, then deleting one in all them would sparkling up the problem. Sounds like your computer is just old. It overheats to much, thus the fan has to activate. Try geting better circulation behind it. You may also think of upgradeing some parts of it, such as upgradeing the ram memory or buying a new fan.

The best option would simply be buying a brand new computer. You can get fairly good ones now for under $800.

this is a cpu problem, the processor is basically millions and millions of tiny transistors that are going on/off many millions of times per milli second, now the bigger the application, the harder the processor works, and the harder it works ,the hotter it gets, and this needs to be kept cool,by cooling such as external fan,cpu fan,psu
inadequate ventelation will cause the cpu to overheat, and this is when it starts to throw up errors, and then crash
sometimes the processor can fry if its not kept cool and it gets too hot
things you need to check
1)your cpu fanshould be checked to see its working ok
2)install more ram(memory)this will give your p.c more resources
3)right click local disk(hard drive) and click tools tab,and error check ,this will be done after next restart, remember to tick"automatically fix errors"
4)give the inside of your case a good clean, use a soft brush to clean all dust off fans and cards
5)run both virus and spyware scans as infection can cause symptoms such as these, run them both in safe mode(f8)and delete any objects found(dont quarintine)
if all of these fail to fix your problem, try a system restore first, and then use your recovery disc or a windows xp disc to re-install windows xp,this is sure to fix the problem, but i reckon its a hardware issue, not a software one
any problems .contact me
good luck

Forget even looking at your fan or processor.....its definantly not this!!

Your CPU is being overloaded with processes / programs and so your CPU gets hotter and get low on memory so your fan compensates to cool it down.

FIX= delete programs install new memory.

Hi,

Sounds like your processor fan needs replacing, if it is stopping then your CPU is heating up rapidly and could eventually be damaged.

If your machine has thermal shutdown then you might find it suddenly resets too.
