Im interested in buying a DVD from America, but im from England, i emailed the guys and they said its a Region 1 DVD, i did my research and that means it can only be played on a Region 1 DVD player or Multi Region DVD players, which i dont know if it is.

But would this region 1 DVD play on my computers DVD drive?

Did you know you can program your DVD player to accept Region 1 DVDs? You just need to know the unlock code. Try looking on http://www.dvdcodes.net.

I unlocked my DVD player over a year ago and have never had any problems with watching DVDs from any region (or bootleg DVDs, this was also a problem before). Then you don't need to mess around with your PC at all.

Your region is 2, but you can change the region on your PC by configuring the DVD player. Some can change the region as many times as you like, some can only be changed a few times. Usually in the DVD there is a player, you can try and install it and have it configured in region 1.

Some PC DVD drives allow you to change the play region, but generally, this can only be done a limited number of times, for example, six changes of region, then the drive becomes locked to the last region selected. Many DVD players have hidden menus or 'cracks' that can be accessed and allow the player to be set to 'region'free'. Have a look at www.videohelp.com and see if you can find a crack for your DVD player.

Yes and No.

You can normally change the region setting on a drive 3 or 4 times before it locks.

If you want to watch both region 1 and your region 2 discs then you may have to flash your DVD drive! ( no not as in naked flash - as in download a new bios just for the DVD drive from the internet)

Post the make and model number of your drive here for more help.

To answer your question, yes it will play on your DVD player. The problem will be with the software that you use to play the DVD. Most will allow you to switch between regions a few times then will lock onto the last region.
There are several DVD players on the market that play both Region 1 and 2 DVD's. I am American and I live in the UK. Often I will have friends and relatives send me DVD's and they play on my Bush DVD player with no problems.
Hope this helps.

Yes that's right, you can change the region a limited number of times. It's a the manufacturer's ploy to get you to part with your cash, although it serves only to annoy people. I am not aware what you can do about it, if anything. One suggestion I have is that you put another DVD drive in your P.C., and use each drive for a dedicated separate region. I hope the cost of another DVD drive is not prohibitive, as they are easy to fit, you should have a spare drive bay.

STOP........you can only change the region on your dvd player 3 times before its stuck on region 1 permanantly. Your best bet is a free program called "RegionFree" which runs in the background and does not effect your settings.

depends on the computer and drive, some may work but rewquire settings to be changed on the computer and often after 3 attempts the settlings are locked so you cannot change them again... a pain but that the way it is. i know my laptop used to be able to play region 1 but only 3 times before i had to lock it in region 2 as i live in england. it is safer to wait until it comes out in england otherwise it is a waste of money if you cannot play it
