I am new to networking but am trying to set up 4 home stations (2 adult - 2 kids). Have Netgear router and need ethernet bridges fir each, I think.
What is hyperthreading and how do I find out if my PC supports it? This is needed by PC Expapnsion Network. Good reviews on Tiger Direct. I think each 'station' needs the PCE and an ethernet bridge? Any advice (for beginners) would be appreciated. Thanks

We have optus cable, when we first connected it was really fast, and as the days went by it got slower and slower. We dont download many things at all, and we dont watch many videos, games etc. Someone came over and made the modem ethernet. Does this have anything to do with our internet connection speed? What can I do to make my internet faster? We have cable so it should be 30 times faster then dial up. It is meant to be 1.5G but the other day I downloaded a program that shows your internet connection speed and it showed us that it was only 200MB, when it is really meant to be 1.5G? What is wrong with my computer?

I have a new laptop and the guy at the store said I just needed a Wireless Router to get internet...but I hooked the Wireless Router up to the Desktop like the software said, and I can't connect to the internet on my laptop still. It says something about a switch that needs to be On, but as far as I know there are no switches on my laptop. It says a local internet connection is unplugged or something, and it's really getting me pissed off, because I've spent technically the whole day trying to figure this thing out. Help?

does anyone know how to configure wingate to share my current internet connection? i'm connected to a router already and i can connect to the internet, but what i want now to do is also to share that connection to computers near me. when i do it using windows, it give me an error message saying i cannot 192.168.0.1 because it is already used in the network. so using wingate or other stuff can you tell me how to share my internet connection, without using another router or hub? just another LAN CARD? please help, or send links to other helpers!

I am trying to get my Xbox360 on Live through a Dell 2350 router. For some reason the MTU always fails. This doesn't happen if it is connected directly to the modem, but it is annoying having to switch cords constantly. I know the MTU needs increased in the modem, but I can't find a setting anywhere in the admin settings to do it. Anyone have any clue on how to do this or if it is even possible with this router?

THANKS!!!

In relation to downloading, what is seeding? I just waited for something to download, and it got to 100%, and then it started 'seeding'. I checked the FAQ of the site, but the questions only suit people who already know what 'seeding' means. Anyone know?

I have a brand new PC attached to the network and is picking up the dynamic ip address. The PC is in a workgroup while the network is in a domain. This pc can see the other computers on the network but none of them can ping this pc. I have several other pc that is in a workgroup too that can be pinged. So the issue doesn't seem to be whether it is in a workgroup or domain (as I originally thought). So does any one have a clue on this?
