is there any way i can connect my xbox 360 to my pc WITHOUT a router?

i also already tried using the ethernet cable, but it seems like neither of them are recognizing each other. can i also get it to work with the ethernet cable?

You can purchase a crossover cable. Or if you have 2 ethernet ports, you can enable internet connection sharing.

A router is the best way to connect multiple devices to the same modem. For a direct connection, you will need a cross-over cable, not the regular type of ethernet cable.
