I have a brand new PC attached to the network and is picking up the dynamic ip address. The PC is in a workgroup while the network is in a domain. This pc can see the other computers on the network but none of them can ping this pc. I have several other pc that is in a workgroup too that can be pinged. So the issue doesn't seem to be whether it is in a workgroup or domain (as I originally thought). So does any one have a clue on this?

FYI, I have given it a static ip address before too and that didnt work either. I was thinking about adding it to the dns list on the server, is that a solution?

Have you checked so it isn't a firewall issue with your new PC? Since there is no problem with your other computers communicating with each other but have problems pinging that specific computer it sounds like it's firewalled..
