I have a lynksys router and the lights are flashing like they are working fine and dandy but I cannot connect to it on my laptop. It shows my network on my possible browser list but I cannot connect to it. My desktop is connected to the internet without a problem but I just cant seem to get my laptop to reconnect. Any help?

I have a standard modem and a broadband connection but, using the Windows XP software, I can get through all the stages of sending a fax (from Microsoft Works) and I have ticked the box marked 'dialling rules' to reflect that I am sending from the internet. But I get a message saying that I have no dial tone, so the message doesn't go. I'm a bit baffled and now wonder whether I need a special fax modem but really I'm out of my depth here. Does anyone have any simple and easy to follow instructions for me, please?
Failing this, I shall give up the computer and technology entirely and go back to scratching my messages on papyrus with a quill pen, and sending them by courier pigeon. *goes back to the dark ages!*

I ve got two PCs, One is in my room and another is in my brothers, recently we purchased 2 of a linksys product which is one: - a Linksys wireless - G broadband router with speedbooster 2.4 GHz, 802.11g, with 125 signal rate. and 2:- wireless USB Network Adapter with speedbooster with the same specification as above.

for some reason after i install the device (broadband router) the PC in my room is not performing very well, the internet speed is so slow eventhough right now i am with blueyonder 4mb broadband.so i disconnect the broadband router from my PC, and the internet speed back to normal. I ve try it twice but it gave the same result, with the router installed, the internet speed is becoming so slow and it took more than 15 second just to load a page. but without it my PC back to its normal performance, what should I do?
Forgot to mention, My PC is being connected to the internet via ethernet lead to the broadband router, while my brothers is via the USB network Adapter

Up until recently, my WiFi connection was available to the various people I allowed to use it. Now, whether I choose to encrypt or not, no other wireless user can connect. They can see the router, but when they try to connect it sticks on "trying to connect". When I have the router WEP enabled, the wireless user can see the connection but when they try to connect it doesn't even ask them for the WEP code. I've tried this on three different PCs with 3 different wireless modems and on different channels all with no success. I wouldn't mind but, as I said, it used to work!

Any help would be appreciated. The wireless router is a LinkSys Wireless-G ADSL gateway, model #WAG54GS ver 1.1.

Thanks,

Alan

Novice seeks your experience?

I would like to advertise our small women community social club on the internet. I am not sure the best way forward, so your advice will be much appreciated.
We are not a profit making organisation it is to let other families who are far from home aware of the clubs and activities available.
This is what I would like to make a vailable;
Information of activities, preferably with a calendar.
Ability for members to sign up for activities.
Payment for activities (usually a nominal ammount to cover transport and refreshments).
e-mail address.
As this is very new - I would welcome advice. Thanks to all.

ok i am using the level one WBR 4306TX router, i know that HGC is using the PPPoe type connection everything is correct, pass and setting i have even tried it on my friend's NWTBB connection and it works, but when i try to set it up with my HGC connection it wont connect.

Btw there is NO DSL modem, which usually comes with most of the DSL type broad band connection. its only like a thin telephone wire going into my PC, directly from the wall.

if anyone has already successfully used a Router with the HGC 10m line then please guide me. thx in advance.

Using a 2Wire HomePortal 1000HG with SSID broadcast turned off, my wireless laptop still picks up the "hidden" SSID as an unsecured, ad-hoc connection. I have seen similar posts that describe changing a setting to prevent ad-hoc connections through my laptop, but how will this prevent other unauthorized users (which may or may not allow ad-hoc connections) from accessing my network in the same way? Is my portal broadcasting an ad-hoc SSID? I have another PC wired to it, but it has no wireless capability at all. I can find no 2Wire setting to prevent ad-hoc connections.

Any help is appreciated.
