hi im thinking about getting a new wireless router. My current router is a dlink DI-514. The performance i get from this router is crappy compared to what my friends receive for their own routers. We all have the same internet provider and speed. My internet provier is Charter High-Speed Internet 10.0 at 10 Mbps. My di-514 is giving me downloads that are at 40kb/s and that is very slow compared to everyone in my city who uses charter high speed.I am slower than 85% of the people. I got that info from one of the websites that test your upload and download rate(forgot which one). My question is (1) is it something in my configuration for my router that is causing this? and can it be fixed?(2) can you recommend and better routers that match the speed of a non wireless connection. Thankyou!

Is there a way to tell if someone is using my wireless internet connection? I'm sure I set up the router with a password but you can never be too careful.

I recently upgraded to ie7 and for a while all was working as before but recently I have been unable to connect to the internet using my wireless connection. I can connect to the wireless router without problem but can not generate an internet gateway no matter what I do. All works fine with the wireless router if I hard wire via a LAN so I dont think the problem lies with the router. When I check network connections within XP I dont have an internet gateway when I have only a wireless connection but I do when I am hard wired. Please help I am out of ideas!!!

We have 3 computers in the house, and we are running Verizon DSL. The DSL router that Verizon gave us is upstairs, and right now I have a 100ft Ethernet cable going from the upstairs to the downstairs connecting to one computer. The 2nd computer is upstairs right next to the router.
My question is, i have one more computer downstairs that I want to hook up to the internet...but no cable. The router has an antenna (I believe they told me it was wireless capable). What would I need to make this work?

I cuurently have a system whereby i can access the internet through my tv. However it is not ideal for studying. I bought the above router but I'm struggling to connect it. Homechoice tv don't support products that is not provided by them and I've had no luck with Belkin.

I'm having problem with the configuration and internet status is constantly showing as o connection.Belkin tells me i need a username and password, Homechoice tells me i don't need one.

I would appreciate it please if someone can give me a step by step guide to configuring the router on my pc and ultimately connection to the net. Alternately is there another router that can be recommended that works with homechoice (self installaon)?

I have a Belkin Wireless router that picks up my HomeHub Wireless network. The signal strength is very good to excellent. However, when I try to configure it in windows, I get the following message:

"Windows cannot configure this wireless connection"

Someone told me that I have to change a setting that will allow windows to manage my networks. How to I do this? Also, I have disabled (and now uninstalled) Norton. I was todl that Norton might cause problems with this too. Is there anything else I can / should do?

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Am using a 54Mbps Linksys wireless G router which transmits my 10Mbps internet connection speed to 5 laptop users. Whenever a user tries to download a large file using some downloaders, the users eats up the speed to an extent that all other users would recieve only 64kbps which is equal to a dial up connection. Could someone show me a way around to tackle this? I want the router to share its speed evenly between the users no matter what their usage is? Any reply appreciated.

I just purchased a N-1 Belkin router which has a maximum data rate of 300 Mbps. However, my new HP laptop only supports up to 54 Mbps. I am trying to determine if its worth the money to buy a N1 wireless card for my laptop and if I will really notice a difference when surfing the internet at the higher speeds.

I have DSL internet connection and just bought a new processor with Windows XP media center OS.
Want to keep the old computer for my son. It has Windows XP home edition. How can I get him connected to the internet and use the printer and be able to transfer the old files I had to the new computer? I don't want to go wireless. Is there a router or cables that can do all this?
