I'd like to be able to access the internet with both of my computers by exchanging the enternet cable. There is a functioning connection (DSL). However, when I unplug the enternet cable and connect it to my other computer, win xp, it dosen't establish a connection. How do I get my computer to realize where the connection is??

It won't work, here is what I have hooked up, can you help? Modem is working properly when hooked up directly to my desktop; now I put the modem to the WAN and the 1st port wired to the desktop; this should work but I keep getting an error saying it cannot connect and asks me if I want to redial? Now my lap top picks up the signal and is connected so it is hooked up right, but no internet access because the desktop won't connect. What do I do? I'm using Bruce Telecom (ontario) but they don't give any support for wireless networking.

The 802.11b slows the internet down greatly, but a guy at Circuit City told us that the 11 Mbps of 802.11b was the fastest you could get as far as internet was concerned, and that if I wanted the full potential of my 100 mbps, I would have to hard wire it.

what do I do?

as the administrator of a wireless SOHO (small office home office), is it possible for me to actually monitor the people who are using it to access the internet. i know they have been able to download tools in order to delete any trace of the internet history.
so all i wanna know is, can i see (as the administrator) all the internet pages they have visited while on my network?

I have a 10mb broadband connection from NTL and when surfing or downloading (or both) the internet speed slows down to zero (looks like it stops but does not disconnect) the rises up again to maximum. It does that every 5 minutes or so and is very annoying. Is there something I can do to fix this or am I just going to have to put up with it?

Seeing all these confused people, asking computer questions, I can't help but wonder why they don't just buy Macs.

Yes, I know each has pros and cons. I'm just teasing you all a little. :)

I want to get my Xbox 360 online but I don't want to buy the $100 wireless adapter to do it. My desktop computer in the same room uses a Linksys USB wireless adapter, so its Ethernet port is free. Could I connect the Xbox 360 to the Ethernet port on the desktop and share the wireless connection? If so, how could I set it up? If not, what's a cheap alternative?

I'm planning on buying a (cheap but functional) router. My problem is that I know almost nothing about routers. Is a wireless router all I need to buy? I have Yahoo! DSL and it's all connected through wires and a little black box (a router I think.)

I have this assumption that all I need to do is buy a wireless router and then I just connect the Yahoo! DSL cables through that router, also assuming that something else connects to the PC so they can wirelessly interact, along with other wireless devices. Is my assumption true or no? is it difficult to set up a wireless router? Also, I'd welcome any recommendations as to which router I should buy, as long as they're not over the top expensive.

Is there any way that i set my laptop's wirelsss Lan on that i do not need to activate it manually when i turn
I have a laptop and a wireless internet (Router) at home. My laptop has Wireless Lan and i can have internet with no issue but the problem is that my laptop does not have any extra key for enabling and disabling the wireless Lan. So whenever i turn it on, i have to manually press the Wireless Lan key to get it activated that i can have internet.

I was just wondering, is there any way that i set my laptop's wirelsss Lan on that i do not need to activate it manually when i turn it on?
