I was sharing files over my wireless network and when i try to view my desktop files on my laptop it works fine, but when i try to view my laptop files on my DESKTOP i get mshome is not accesible. I have windows xp and have disabled all firewalls and anti- virus software. Please help me out!!!!

This is usually because the network or workgroup name is not the same. To correct this, right click on My Computer an choose properties. Then choose 'Computer Name.' Ensure that both computers have the same value for the WORKGROUP.

Assuming that the workgroup name is the same on both PCs....

Trying access the other PC by going down and typing two \\ then its IP address (like \\192.168.0.100) in the Run box off the Start menu. Usually if one PC is not finding the other, it does not have DNS information available to it. Often connecting once using IP will load that information onto the computer and it will work after that.

do you have norton anti virus 06? if it is on the laptop, it may be blocking your desktop from gaining access. configure the firewall to accept incoming file sharing to users of your domain.

file sharing enabled? Both computers in the same work group? Is the same user account created on both computers?

i think you need to share the files inorder to access them over the network . right click on the folder->sharing and security from there you can share the folder and once you have your wireless network those files can be shared
