Block, Restrict access to a Website, Page. Prevent it from Opening.
You can either use the Content advisor from Internet explorer
Go to Internet Explorer> Tools> Internet Option> Content> Enable Content Advisor.>Approved Sites tab and enter the URL of the site you want to block. Then click the "Never" button and then "ok". if You desire you an enter a password to prevent any user from disabling this service.
now the site is blocked.
------------------------------...
or add them to the restricted zone, also on Internet Explorer
1st. click "tools" on your internet toolbar
2. click the 'security' tab
3. click on the 'restricted sites' icon
4. click on 'sites' tab
5.there will be a empty bar, type in the website and click add. this will block it.
------------------------------...
Or using the HOSTS file for better blocking..
Go to your HOSTS file. It's in your Windows, system 32, drivers, etc folder.
Copy HOSTS and rename HOSTS.old.
Open HOSTS with notepad and
Add 127.0.0.1 XXXX.com under the last line where XXXX is the name of the site you are blocking.
Close HOSTS and answer yes. Reboot.
For example if you wanted to block FLpcNerds, HOSTS would now look like this:
# Copyright © 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a "#" symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
#
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 www.payboy.com
and so on..make sure that after the 127.0.0.1 you add the adress you want to block
Simply placing the undesired website in your restricted zone will not prevent total access. Adding to the restricted zone will just prevent the use of scripts, Active-X, etc.
Good luck.
