Using different laptops, all using windows wireless configuration. Using WPA security, put in key says connected to network but internet does not work for some reason. Try repair connection, fixes it most of the time, other times it does not. Reboot will fix it sometimes as well. What is the problem? Seems like only have this issue when I set up connection. Using open(auto) authentication, WPA (WPA-PSK) encryption. Major hassle having to fix issue over and over with different laptops. Any clue why this keeps happening. Makes no sense that it says connected to wireless network, but no connectivity to internet. SOO FRUSTRATING! Made the necessary changes to router(or modem), and laptops so that they all have same key, same network name, same encryption, etc. Should not keep having problem, but still do.

Ive got several buildings connected by fibre optic. Each building is connected to the fibre optic by a layer 3 switch. There are several VLANS connected to these switches to form different departments of the business.

Is it true that without a router behind the layer 3 switch, a vlan in building 1 wont be able to communicate with another vlan in building 1?

Can't layer 3 switches route the information between VLANS?

thanks in advance

I use two wireless networks on my laptop, in which have different settings to use. One uses DHCP, the other uses manually entered IP and a proxy server.
I've written a batch file to switch between these settings, but the proxy has confused me. How would I go about adding and removing a proxy from a batch file/command line?

Manufacturer unknown. Tried the normal unplug, hold reset, plug in. No success. I opened it up, but no manufacturer on the PCB either.
There is no way for me to know who made it... so I'm hoping someone here will have a creative suggestion (not like "hit it harder") or someone who has had a similar problem.
I really just need to get the login username and password, but a hard reset seems to be the only way.
P.S. The router was pretty cheap... one of those no-name pieces of junk....
If no help here, I will resort to buying a new one.. but that is a last resort.

I can't access my router's web interface (which I normally do via http://192.168.178.1/) on a PC which I have recently reinstalled windows on. I can access the router via another computer but for some reason I cannot get to the web interface from the PC I have reinstalled (and use most often). It looks as if it might load but I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". What setting do I need to adjust to get it to work?

I ran out of room before. But I just got a wireless D-Link router with a USB expansion. I can get the wii online no problem with it. But the PS3 looses connection fairly simple, especially when doing an update on it. Anyways I have my PC upstairs with the Cable Modem plugged into the router. Then I have the Wii/PS3/Xbox downstairs. I have plugged it all together and powered everything down and powered it back up. Again the wii works fine but PS3 can only find an IP address, no internet connection. Any info/help would be appreciated. I am trying to avoid sitting on hold with my ISP or Playstation support :)

I remotely support several servers and the way I access them is via a web browser .

"Citrix Web Interface" for Presentation server 4.0.

The Problem - After I print from a local application to our network and network printer(not the customers), I get the following error in the remote Servers event log

Event Type:Error
Event Source:TermServDevices
Event Category:None
Event ID:1111
Date:1/9/2007
Time:8:42:55 AM
User:N/A
Computer:server22
Description:
Driver Citrix Universal Printer required for printer Sales on server ( in session 25 is unknown. Contact the administrator to install the driver before you log in again.

Now I dont have any other Citrix software loaded for printing. I only have the Citrix software that was required to remotel log in via a web browser

Just bought a Linksys Wireless G router with speed booster (WRT54GS). There are some areas though in the house that get weak signal. I was thinking of buying a Wireless G access point (WAP54G) and a long UTP cable to "extend" my signal. Is this the right way to do it? The signal is only strong on the first floor. I was thinking of running a long UTP cable connected to the router up to the second floor and putting a WAP54G there. Will this result in my having internet in both floors? Can all my siblings and I use our computers at the same time?

I have a cable modem with high speed internet,t.v. and phone.I hooked up a wireless router through a network on my p.c. for my sons laptop, but it slows my computer down. Not to mention the security risk of someone getting into MY computer through the wireless network. Can I connect another modem to connect his wireless router to,so he can get a wireless signal without creating a network connection from my desktop computer?I have cables in every room in the house,so finding another connection is not a problem. The cable company,WOW hooked directly into the existing cable system,so there is connections to the cable everywhere.

My office requires everyone to have what they call a "Standard Desktop" on their computer. But I have other programs that I need to access from time to time that the standard desktop won't allow installation. I was wondering if there was a way I could install a 2nd Desktop into my machine? That way, I could switch between one attached to the LAN and one in standalone mode.

Can this be done?
