i v got a high speed internet connection at my premises. i v connected a swich to it and divided the connection into 4 computers. is it logical to connect a switch and do it. will it harm the router/hub from where the internet is comming

No, this is actually a standard configuration in the enterprise.

Many modern switches are now auto-MDI as well as auto-speed and auto-duplex so you often don't even need to use crossover cables.

It won't hurt anything. I've daisy-chained switches before, just make sure to note where you need a regular network cable vs. a crossover cable.

The cable doesn't be counted. yet all contraptions in contact could bypass the 1Gb speed. Your change and the playing cards in both pcs that are talking could have the capacity to bypass the 1Gb speed. If any are 100Mb speed, then the speed will be constrained to that.

no the switch wont harm anything.your 4 computers will be going at the same speed.if you add more computers it wont hurt
