Manufacturer unknown. Tried the normal unplug, hold reset, plug in. No success. I opened it up, but no manufacturer on the PCB either.
There is no way for me to know who made it... so I'm hoping someone here will have a creative suggestion (not like "hit it harder") or someone who has had a similar problem.
I really just need to get the login username and password, but a hard reset seems to be the only way.
P.S. The router was pretty cheap... one of those no-name pieces of junk....
If no help here, I will resort to buying a new one.. but that is a last resort.

Well, I definitely liked the FCC ID response, it was the most helpful.. however this sucker is SO unmarked it doesnt even have an FCC ID. I checked all of the numbers written anywhere on the PCB or otherwise, and nothing turns up in either of the databases suggested. I have tried every combination of reset button and power cable; and it has been unplugged for the past 4 months, so that doesnt do anything.
Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

Since you have the case open...

Look on the PCB for the FCCID then do an FCCID search at -

1.) http://www2.windrivers.com/BEGINNER/index.htm

or here

2.) https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/cf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm

That should tell you who made the product.

Is there any kind of model number or marking on the router at all? If so, try google-ing that number and see if you come up with any websites.

For name brand routers like Linksys, Netgear, etc. The user name is usually "admin" "administrator" or nothing at all (leave blank), the password could be "password" or "admin." Try these different combos. They may or may not work.

Did the router come with any documentation? If so, the username/password should be in there.

Just a side note: I would really recommend getting a brand router if possible. Often, cheaper no-name hardware is more trouble than it's worth. This goes for routers, memory, hard drives, etc.

Good Luck!

When you reset the router all computers connecting to it will cease to get internet. This is because the SSID changes back to it's default factory name such as linksys, default, .... also if you have encryption the encryption key will be gone. You'll need to setup the wireless on all computers connected to the router unless you put the encryption and SSID of the router back exactly the same.

Alternatively press and hold the button for 5 seconds while it's powered on. If that doestn't work, try 10 seconds, etc.

If there are any numbers on the PCB (don't forget to look at both sides of the board) try Googling them.

The unplug-replug method is just about the only way I know of rebooting a router. Interesting timing - mine seems to have died last night too.

If it's a non-name brand router don't expect it to be compatible with anything, I highly doubt it's Wi-Fi certified...

you can get a D-Link Di-524 for $40

Try unplugging it and leaving it unplugged for a few minutes before plugging back in.
