I can't access my router's web interface (which I normally do via http://192.168.178.1/) on a PC which I have recently reinstalled windows on. I can access the router via another computer but for some reason I cannot get to the web interface from the PC I have reinstalled (and use most often). It looks as if it might load but I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". What setting do I need to adjust to get it to work?

since you just reinstalled windows, this pc is like a brand new pc. so you would have to get it on your network just like you did in the beginning. so do whatever steps you did in the first place when you first got your router to get the pc added. this usually includes going to your network properties and doing some stuff with the ip address. good luck!

Make sure that your computer has an IP address in the same subnet (192.168.178.x where x is something other than 1). If you're not in the same subnet you won't be able to view it.

To check your IP address, double click the LAN icon (should be the two little computers near your clock at the bottom right corner of the screen), then click on the "Support" tab. That will show what IP address you have.

If you need to change your IP address:

Go to Start -> Control Panel (make sure it's switched to Classic View) -> Network Settings -> right click your LAN (should be the two overlapping computers that are blinking blue) -> click "Properties" -> click "Internet Protocol TCP/IP" then click the properties button. You can change the IP address here by clicking on "Use the Following IP Address" (note: you may want to change this back to "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" afterwards).

Hopefully this helps. Good Luck!

Has your router been set to only allow management access from a limited range of IP addresses? If so, fix that.

Alternatively try https://192.168.178.1 as it may require a secure session for management -- common practice.

If you're successfully accessing network resources and the internet, your tcp settings are obviously correct.

Your issue appears to be browser related.

Check your browser's security and zone settings.
Tools > Internet Options > Select the "Security" tab

Verify that your "Zone" settings are configured properly.

Clear browser cache, delete temporary internet files, close then re-launch browser, attempt router log-on.

Since you reinstalled windows (depending if you upgraded) then you changed your settings on your computer or all your original settings are back to default. If your two computers are in the same area you can network them together but the only thing about it is that both computers would be on.

Check Settings
