network is working fine and laptop connects with usb adapter, but not with inbuilt atheros.

Make sure if you have WEP or WAP security enabled that you are also inputing it using your built in adapter.
Or you could have MAC filtering on in your router that does not allow the MAC address of your built in radio to connect to the router.

limited or no connectivity error msg comes up if win wireless zero configuration has been set to automatic/started & there is also a client utility of the wireless adapter active.so that means 2 softwares w/ the same function are trying to detect the signal----this causes conflict.you need to disable one of the softwares.
