I have a Belkin Wireless router that picks up my HomeHub Wireless network. The signal strength is very good to excellent. However, when I try to configure it in windows, I get the following message:

"Windows cannot configure this wireless connection"

Someone told me that I have to change a setting that will allow windows to manage my networks. How to I do this? Also, I have disabled (and now uninstalled) Norton. I was todl that Norton might cause problems with this too. Is there anything else I can / should do?

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

# Click Start | All Programs | Accessories | Communications | Network Setup Wizard.
# Click Next on the Welcome screen.
# Read the instructions on the Before You Continue screen; they tell you to turn on all computers, printers, and so on, before starting. Click Next.
#

In the Select a Connection Method screen, choose an option that describes your computer, and then click Next.

#

If you chose the first option in step 4, the Network Setup Wizard needs to identify your Internet connection. Select it in the provided screen, shown here, and then click Next.

# In the Name and Description screen, give the computer a description and a network name. The name should be something friendly and easy to remember. If your computer has a cable or a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) modem, you may be required to use a certain name provided by the Internet service provider (ISP). If this is the case, do not change the name. Check your broadband documentation for details. Click Next.
# Choose the name of your network. It should be something simple; it is MSHOME by default, but you can call it anything you like.

In the next window, a summary of the settings to be applied are listed. Click Next to apply the settings, and follow any additional instructions that might appear

Sometimes as standard the software you get with the wireless card overrides windows and takes control of the connection, you should also be able to use this to set up the network connection.

If you are unable to use this to make the connection you need to disable the program that starts up do run > msconfig and in startup disable the wireless application. From experience uninstalling it has a tendency to also uninstall the wireless driver you want to keep.

You also need to tell windows to take control to do this tight click the wireless connection and chose properties, fo to the wireless networks tab and there is a little check box at the top

Also do start > run > services.msc and ensure wireless zero configuration is running and set to auto. Windows needs this for wireless connections.

Click Start-Run, type services.msc, press "Enter", and find the Zero Wireless configuration service.
Right-click it, click "Properties", and make sure that it's started.
That's a start.
