I have DSL internet connection and just bought a new processor with Windows XP media center OS.
Want to keep the old computer for my son. It has Windows XP home edition. How can I get him connected to the internet and use the printer and be able to transfer the old files I had to the new computer? I don't want to go wireless. Is there a router or cables that can do all this?

The easiest way to do this is to purchase a regular router and connect your DSL modem into the routers internet port and connect your two computers to the router using ethernet cables.

Then run the network setup wizard to configure your computers firewalls and file and printer sharing capabilities.

A broadband connection can be shared between 2 or more computers using a router . Though wireless connections are becoming popular, a wired connection is usually more secure and faster. The router used for a wired connection is also cheaper. More details at http://fixit.in/shareinternet.html

Buy a router without wireless capability with print server. This will solve your problem.
