We have 3 computers in the house, and we are running Verizon DSL. The DSL router that Verizon gave us is upstairs, and right now I have a 100ft Ethernet cable going from the upstairs to the downstairs connecting to one computer. The 2nd computer is upstairs right next to the router.
My question is, i have one more computer downstairs that I want to hook up to the internet...but no cable. The router has an antenna (I believe they told me it was wireless capable). What would I need to make this work?

The first thing you should do is contact Verizon for their input. If they are unable to solve the problem, then ask for outside help.

I may be the first one who actually read your questions and added details. IF - the DSL Modem and the westell router are two separate boxes, you can replace the westell with any good router. Wireless routers today have both the wireless and hard wired capabilities, so you should not need to have a separate wired router. Simply set up the new wireless, and plug all your hard wired units into the ports on the router. IF the router is also the modem, you will have to check with Verizon to make sure any given model of modem/ router will work on their system. If you are renting the modem/ router, being charged a monthly fee for it, they should replace it for free. NOTE: A hard wire connection will almost always be faster than a wireless one. So when it is convenient to use a network cable, you should do so. (Wireless G is 54Mb, where as wired is usually either 100Mb or even 1000Mb) When setting up the wireless router - make sure you watch for a step to CLONE the MAC address of your computer onto the new router. This can prevent problems with security programs on some IP's by making the Modem think it is always talking to the computer and not to a router.

I work for Verizon DSL, We sent you either a Westell Versalink 327w or a ActionTec.

The cheepest route for you to take is to get a wireless usb adapter for the computer you want to connect or you can get a wireless card. Best Buy Circuit ciy or any other electronics store sales these. Also Verizon sales one that is called a Westell wireless usb Adapter.

The wireless usb adapter plugs into your computer by a usb cable and sends a picks up the signal that your router (upstairs) is sending out..

1. Does your 2nd computer downstairs wifi capable?
2. If not buy a cheap hub link below
3. Connect your 100 feet cable to uplink port (if you buy this device) and two other cables from two computer to the ethernet ports on the hub.
4. Thats all you are all connected
5. If your second computer is wifi capable than pass steps 2-4 and try configuring your wireless LAN
