It can be accomplished in a number of ways, but only if you are an administrator of the network. If your dsl router has QOS capabilities built in, you can give your traffic a higher priority than the other computers. However, most consumer products either do not offer QOS, or implement it badly.

Otherwise, you can use a Linux machine with traffic shaping to throttle the bandwidth of the other computers on your network. T

You can't do that easily. There's nothing that you can install on your PC that will do that for you.

You'd need a gateway that can handle bandwidth management. That's not cheap and is not something that an ordinary user is going to be able to set up. Most SOHO class routers don't implement QoS or traffic shaping. The few that do implement it by port or protocol, not by user IP address. You could give priority to VOIP traffic for example, but you couldn't give your PC more internet bandwidth on port 80 for web surfing.

Here's a link to one possible solution: http://www.bandwidthcontroller.com/features.html You'll need a dedicated PC to install it on and you'll need the Enterprise version ($189.00) to manage bandwidth on a per user basis. Google around for other possible solutions.

You cant do that. What I suggest is getting a higher DSL package to suite your needs. What happends is that you are sharing a connection with the other 9 computers and its not up to you to prioritze your traffic. If your router supports QoS it might help a little if you configure it right.
