Hello my friend,

First of all, you need to set up a network? If you ran a regular network cable between your two computers, that will not work. If you are plugging your computer directly into another computer, you need a cross-over ethernet cable.

My best suggestion is that you set-up a small network by getting cheap linksys or d-link switch. Then you do not have to bother with the crossover thing. Sometimes, the crossover cable can be more expensive than the switch.

Then, you have to share out your modem connection with your computer.

however, there are a bunch of what is called "lan modem's out on the market. They are fairly cheap ($50) They will dial your ISP and be a router for your network.

Some of the older ones are Webramps

if you are running xp you could consider using ics- internet connection sharing.

if older versions of windows the you will need to download a proxy server.

i haven't done this for years but i have vague memories of using proxy plus.

major downside is that you need to have the host pc turned on when using the client pc
